Secretary Information Technology, Gilgit-Baltistan, Mr. Zameer Abbas, attended the closing ceremony of the “Build AI Skills for Tomorrow, Today” project as Chief Guest at SDA Technology Hub, Gilgit. The programme, implemented by SDA Technology Hub with support from the Pakistan–U.S. Alumni Network (PUAN), trained over 100 youth and professionals from across Gilgit-Baltistan, with 50 participants receiving certificates at the ceremony. Addressing the participants, the Secretary IT underscored the importance of understanding the fundamentals of artificial intelligence and its expanding role in everyday life. He encouraged young people of the region to build on the skills gained through the programme and to see technology as a pathway to economic opportunity. The Secretary appreciated the efforts of SDA Technology Hub and PUAN in expanding access to digital skills training in Gilgit-Baltistan, and reaffirmed the Department’s commitment to supporting initiatives that strengthen the region’s technology ecosystem and prepare its youth for a digital economy.

World Telecommunication and Information Society Day عالمی یومِ ٹیلی مواصلات و معلوماتی معاشرہ کے موقع پر میں گلگت بلتستان کے عوام، بالخصوص نوجوانوں، آئی ٹی ماہرین اور ٹیلی کمیونیکیشن شعبے سے وابستہ افراد کو مبارکباد پیش کرتا ہوں۔ اس سال عالمی دن کا موضوع “Digital Lifelines: Strengthening Resilience in a Connected World” یعنی ’’ڈیجیٹل لائف لائنز: ایک مربوط دنیا میں مضبوطی و پائیداری کا فروغ‘‘ ہے، جو موجودہ دور کے تقاضوں سے مکمل ہم آہنگ ہے۔ گلگت بلتستان حکومت نے انفارمیشن ٹیکنالوجی اور ٹیلی کمیونیکیشن کے شعبے میں تاریخی اقدامات کا آغاز کیا ہے تاکہ دور افتادہ علاقوں کو بھی جدید ڈیجیٹل سہولیات سے منسلک کیا جا سکے۔ حکومت کی کوششوں سے پہلی مرتبہ یونیورسل سروس فنڈ (USF) پاکستان کے منصوبوں کا دائرہ گلگت بلتستان تک توسیع پا رہا ہے، جس سے علاقے میں انٹرنیٹ اور موبائل کنیکٹیویٹی کے فروغ میں نمایاں بہتری آئے گی۔ (5G) اسی طرح گلگت بلتستان میں سروسز کے ٹیسٹ ٹرائل کی منظوری بھی دی جا چکی ہے اور بہت جلد آکشن کا مرحلہ بھی مکمل ہوگا جو خطے کی جدید ڈیجیٹل ٹیکنالوجی کی جانب ایک اہم پیش رفت ہے۔ حکومت گلگت بلتستان ٹیلی کام کمپنیوں کے لیے سازگار ماحول فراہم کر رہی ہے تاکہ سرمایہ کاری، نیٹ ورک توسیع اور جدید مواصلاتی سہولیات کی فراہمی کو یقینی بنایا جا سکے۔ ہمارا عزم ہے کہ گلگت بلتستان کو ڈیجیٹل ترقی کے قومی دھارے میں شامل کرتے ہوئے نوجوانوں کے لیے آئی ٹی، فری لانسنگ، آن لائن تعلیم، ٹیلی میڈیسن اور ای گورننس کے نئے مواقع پیدا کیے جائیں۔ ایک مربوط، جدید اور ڈیجیٹل طور پر مستحکم گلگت بلتستان ہی ہمارے روشن مستقبل کی ضمانت ہے۔ ~ غلام عباس نگراں وزیر اطلاعات و انفارمیشن ٹیکنالوجی گلگت بلتستان

Cancellation of Tender Notice for the Capacity Building of Youth in Digital Skills in Gilgit-Baltistan

The Department of Information Technology, GB is inviting proposals from interested IT related firm’s/training institutes/companies having the relevant experience for conducting the training course at their own/rented premises in various districts of Gilgit-Baltistan, in phases, in various training program, under the ADP scheme “Capacity Building of Youth of GB in digital skills”

نگران وزیر اطلاعات، نشریات و انفارمیشن ٹیکنالوجی جی بی غلام عباس گلگت بلتستان میں آئی ٹی انڈسٹری کے فروغ سے متعلق منعقدہ اجلاس کی صدارت کر رہے ہیں۔

A meeting was held today 29/01/2026 under the chairmanship of Secretary IT, Gilgit-Baltistan, Mr. Zameer Abbas to discuss the digitization of revenue receipts and Person-to-Government (P2G) payments. Representatives from the following departments participated in the meeting: Agriculture, Communication & Works, PMRU, School Education, Finance, Higher Education, MICL, Food, and LG&RD. The session focused on strengthening digital payment mechanisms to enhance transparency, efficiency, and ease of public service delivery across Gilgit-Baltistan.

The Pakistan–UNIDIR Cyber Capacity-Building and Policy Training Programme was formally inaugurated by the Foreign Secretary of Pakistan, Ambassador Amna Baloch, in Islamabad. The five-day programme is being held from 12 to 16 January 2026 in collaboration with the United Nations Institute for Disarmament Research (UNIDIR), with the support of Global Affairs Canada. The IT Department GB, led by the IT Secretary, Mr. Zameer Abbas along with team members, is actively participating in this important national and international initiative aimed at strengthening capacities to address evolving cyber threats, ICT security challenges, and cyber governance frameworks. This programme brings together policymakers, technical experts, and academics and includes expert-led sessions, scenario-based discussions, and tabletop exercises focusing on cybersecurity policy, incident response, cybercrime, emerging technologies, and international cooperation.

مشیر انفارمیشن ٹیکنالوجی ثریا زمان نے گلگت میں ہائی امپیکٹ اسکلز ڈویلپمنٹ پروگرامز کی کامیاب تکمیل کے موقع پر سرٹیفکیٹ تقسیم کرنے کے حوالے سے منعقدہ تقریب سے خطاب میں انہوں نے اس اہم اقدام کی افادیت پر زور دیا اور کہا کہ اس نوعیت کے پروگرامز نوجوانوں کے لیے نہ صرف جدید دنیا میں اپنی جگہ بنانے کا موقع فراہم کرتی ہیں بلکہ پاکستان کی ٹیکنالوجی کے شعبے میں ترقی کے لیے بھی اہم کردار ادا کرتی ہیں۔ انہوں نے گریجویٹس کی محنت اور عزم کو سراہا اور ان سے کہا کہ وہ پاکستان کی بڑھتی ہوئی ٹیکنالوجی انڈسٹری کا حصہ بن کر اپنی صلاحیتوں کو مزید نکھاریں۔انہوں نے حکومت کی جانب سے ڈیجیٹل خواندگی کے فروغ اور نوجوانوں کے لیے ابھرتی ہوئی ٹیکنالوجیز میں مہارت حاصل کرنے کے مواقع فراہم کرنے کے عزم کا اعادہ کیا۔ انہوں نے مزید کہا کہ حکومت کا وژن یہ ہے کہ نوجوانوں کو انڈسٹری کے تقاضوں کے مطابق مہارت فراہم کی جائے تاکہ نہ صرف ان کی ملازمت کے امکانات بڑھیں بلکہ ان میں کاروباری صلاحیتیں بھی فروغ پائیں۔ تقریب میں صوبائی وزیر برائے سماجی بہبود دلشاد بانو نے اپنے خطاب میں کہا کہ حکومت، ڈیجیٹل مستقبل کو مضبوط بنانے کے لیے پرعزم ہے اور اس پروگرام کے ذریعے نئی نسل کو ٹیکنالوجی کے میدان میں کامیابی کے مواقع فراہم کررہے ہیں
